Mined in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Australia & Brazil, to name but a few.
When mined, zircon is brown, which is then heat treated to crate the colours or clear look we know.
Zircon contains radioactive uranium and metal thorium.

ANECDOTES…
It once took precedence over all gems, because of its brilliance. It has existed for 4.4bn years, so far far longer than diamond which has of course overtaken it in recent times.
It’s said that if it loses its lustre, danger is coming.
The word comes from the Arabic “Zargoon” meaning gold-coloured (as it is when it’s mined).
