Pearls in the Roaring 20s

Pearls have been a perpetual part of a woman’s jewellery collection for centuries – the epitome of class and elegance. Portraits of Queen Elizabeth I show her with multiple layers of pearls around her neck. The Flapper Girls of the 1920s wore long strings of them with their feathers and glitz. Legally Blonde brought them bang up to date as they adorned Reese Witherspoon’s decollatage. And most recently we’ve seen Kamala Harris make history as she became vice president of the USA, and wore pearls in virtually every appearance.
Because pearls symbolise wealth and power, they had a huge part to play in the Roaring 20s. The world was trying to bounce back from the pandemic that had caused such suffering, and suddenly partying was back on the agenda. People wanted glamour, and pearls were the best way to show that - when it came to socialising in the coolest places in town – you meant business. Sound familiar? Will we see a New Roaring 20s following the end of this generation’s pandemic? Will partying be the ultimate way to say WE’RE BACK? And will we do that with pearls?
Here in Spriteland, we believe that pearl jewellery is for everybody. Not just the rich, and not just your grandmother. We have a wide range of pearls in white, black and even mauve. Some classically-set, and some featuring in the most modern and fun designs.
